It Just Makes Sense

Last week I helped welcome 230 guests to Cru’s first annual NYC Vision Dinner. People from all over the city learned about this significant ministry opportunity, where 1 out of every 20 young people who attend college this fall in the US will enroll. The evening began with the video interviews above:

Do you believe in God? Why or why not?
  • “I don’t think he exists. No, I don’t believe.”
  • “For me it doesn’t make sense. I’m not religious at all.”

What role, if any, does the concept of spirituality play in your life?
  • “It doesn’t very much.”
  • “Hmm. None. It’s just unbelievable.”
  • “It’s important in everything, because if not, things become empty.”

Who would you say Jesus is or was?
  • “I really don’t know.”
  • “Jesus was an invention, not even an actual person.”
  • “He died for your sins? I think that’s what people say.”

If God exists, what’s your desire to have a personal relationship with him on a scale of one to ten?
  • “One.”
  • “I’d say five. Like, I’m not opposed to it, but I’m not crazy about it.”
  • “I’d like it to be a ten, but we’re not there.”
  • “Ten being the biggest? Like eleven! I would definitely want a personal relationship with the person that created me. I feel like that just makes sense.”

Today’s college students are starved for a clear picture of Jesus’ good news, especially here in New York City. We came to see the Lord change that! To us, it just makes sense. We want to share the gospel with those who haven’t heard and equip Christians to live intentionally to help others know Jesus too!

Snapshots from this month...
VISION DINNER SUCCESS | We filled 24 tables at the fancy Yale Club to hear about Cru’s plans for NYC, especially the new teams arriving in Queens and Brooklyn this fall!
ARIZONA CAPITOL VISIT | It was fun to include my mom Virginia (L) at my presentation. Thank you to Chaplain Donna Kafer (R) for the invite!
GOVERNOR'S BREAKFAST | SeaWorld’s new CEO, Joel Manby, spoke about servant leadership. His bible study at Harvard helped establish his faith.
EXPLORING THE CITY | A new NYC friend gifted our family annual passes to all 5 zoos!
